Accommodating religious beliefs and practices in the workplace canada alt lifestyle dating site
For a quick summary of the CSA’s position, read this PDF: CSA briefing note – Religious accommodation You may also download the slides for the CSA’s presentation on religious accommodation () For a more in-depth treatment, read the CSA Policy on Religious Accommodation & Exemption (also in HTML form below) The Canadian government and judiciary should not grant religious exemptions to individuals from neutral, generally applicable laws or policies. The only logical alternative is that such exemptions should be granted to accommodate all deeply held human commitments (including religion, culture, secular conscience, and deeply held political / philosophical / ethical / moral / metaphysical beliefs).
The CSA believes the Canadian government and judiciary should adopt one of two coherent positions on this issue: (1) preferably, exemptions from the law should not be granted, irrespective of whether they are based on religion or not; or (2) barring that, such exemptions should be granted to accommodate all deeply held human commitments (including religion, culture, secular conscience, and deeply held political / philosophical / ethical / moral / metaphysical beliefs).
Since there is no coherent rationale for differentiating between these deeply held human convictions, they should be treated with equal respect under the law.
In Canada, exemptions from generally applicable laws and policies are granted to accommodate beliefs that are rooted in religion, but not other sources.
Show employees that the code of ethics is not just something that lives on paper.
